Almegijar, The Alpujarras and the Sierra Nevada

The first thing to hit you about Almegijar is that you can feel like you have travelled back in time when you visit. Little has changed since the days of the Moors when this village first came to life with narrow streets and traditional houses with flat roofs and the chimneys that are a feature of Granada houses.

The village is small but offers amenities including the town hall, a bakery, tapas bar, a chemist and mini supermarket.  In addition, two churches are located within the village which draw many visitors.

The village also has many local crafts similar to other villages in the Alpujarras area including the production of ceramics.

The larger village of Torvizcon is a few minutes drive and is perfect for shopping – it comes with a range of amenities including; restaurants, gym, swimming pool, sports facilities, pharmacy, shops, mechanic, garage, furniture store and celebrates regular festivals during the year.

The nearby Sierra Nevada mountains and the Cerro de la Corona are perfect for hiking, nature lovers and those that enjoy skiing and adventure.  This area is one of very few where you can be skiing in the morning and have a stroll on the beachfront in the afternoon.
