For sale direct from the owner!

Casa La Parra is a charming old finca surrounded by organic farms but situated very close to the center of Alhaurin de la Torre. The property is located at least 500 meters away from the road into the village. Access is restricted by an electrical gate, so it is very private and peaceful.

This character finca is very large – nearly 600M2 of accommodation providing light and spacious rooms across two floors. Whilst many Spanish fincas and cortijos can feel dark and cold, this delightful home has a great flow through the living spaces and has been cleverly designed to offer privacy between guests and the owners.

The house has its origins some 200 years ago and the current owner bought it as a ruin in the 1980’s.  The house has been sensitively rebuilt and enlarged (with all the usual permits from the local authority) to make it a comfortable, year-round home which now offers spacious living for the modern age.

Layout and accommodation…

The design of the property truly reflects a traditional country finca or cortijo however, the current owner has sensitively rebuilt and extended the house to provide comfortable accommodation to cater to modern life for a couple, larger families or even to entertain guests – be they friends, family or the paying variety!

The ground floor… the house is entered from the cobble stone entrance into a large double height entrance hall which leads to the master bedroom suite on the right hand side and the living spaces to the left.

The entrance hallway has a stairway rising to the first floor and a galleried landing ideal for a library, creating a welcoming feeling of space and light. Under stair storage keeps things tidy. There is also a guest bathroom (sink and toilet) and a guest cloakroom as well, off the main hallway..

The living areas flow beautifully with an impressive living room, and an open feature fireplace with a door on either side, giving access to the patio.

A separate smaller living room is the ideal area for reading or watching TV and has another fireplace.

This in turn leads to the dining room which has a view over the gardens.

The two living areas, the dining room and the kitchen have underfloor heating from a gas water heater.

The kitchen is well fitted with plenty of storage space, built in appliances and a traditional canopy above the extractor. It has a separate space for a breakfast table and another washroom (toilet and sink). The kitchen features a window to the south and a door opening to the patio on the north.

A laundry room is located off the kitchen, and has a window, a door to the west (great for ventilation) and has lots of space for additional appliances and can be used as a further utility space.

There is an additional room, with a door to the west, that is used as a food pantry and for storage.

The master bedroom suite is located on the ground floor (an excellent way to future proof the property for older owners or those with mobility issues) and the focus is on comfort and luxury…

The bedroom area is dual aspect, has an open fireplace and has space for a large bed plus further seating and storage.

The suite benefits from two en-suite bathrooms (with bath/shower combination) and two walk in wardrobes or dressing rooms.

The first floor…

Arriving on the first floor you are able to look over the entrance hallway below from the galleried landing.

The first floor areas are separated into an east wing and west wing…

The east wing consists of a large work room, a large office with wood burning stove and a large store room. These rooms could easily be adapted to provide further bedrooms if wanted.

The west wing of the second floor is accessed via a separate staircase and has two guest bedrooms (each with a full bathroom and a walk in closet) and a large office area.

This separation gives the home owner and guests a huge amount of privacy and this could work well for paying guests.

Outside… On the ground floor level and north of the master bedroom, is a two car garage with a small work shop and a locked room for the domestic water well.

We feel this beautiful home offers plenty for the discerning buyer and here’s a few reasons why…

♦ The perfect location – peace and privacy but within 1km of Alhaurin de la Torre

♦ Surrounded by mature gardens, wooded areas and organically maintained farmland

♦ A traditional finca but with modern comforts to accommodate the most stylish of new owners.

♦ Nearly 600M2 of accommodation with a huge amount of flexibility for future use

♦ The ideal setting for a sustainable future, off grid and healthy!

♦ Close to Alhaurin de la Torre, Malaga, airport and the beaches of the Costa del Sol.

Sustainability and a healthy environment in which to live…

The property is completely organic in terms of the way in which the land is maintained. The neighboring properties are also managed organically and this creates a healthy environment to live in a world challenged by modern farming methods and chemicals.

There are many who now consider the sustainability of a home and it’s future use to be an important factor in assessing it’s suitability to deal with a changing world. This fabulous house has a number of additional benefits not normally considered. With only some minor changes, the property could be adapted to become a completely “off grid” living environment.  Although the house is situated in amidst a veritable forest of trees, the roof of the house would provide ample space to position a solar array sufficiently large to provide all the electrical needs required, including for the water pumps.

The benefit of living in a forest includes the reduction in microwave radiation. The current owner has tested the EMF, EF and Rf and there is virtually zero radiation on the property and the nearest mobile/cell tower is over a kilometer away.

Whilst we benefit from modern technology, very little is known about the potential dangers of radiation and the gadgets we take for granted, and the wireless communications industry will not investigate these potential dangers.

There is a domestic well that provides drinking water. The quality of the well water was tested in 2019 and with excellent results. The property also has water rights from an irrigation well located on a neighbor’s property which could be used to add to the supply of self-grown fruit and vegetables.

Land and gardens…

The house sits in land of 6,500M2 surrounded by mature trees and gardens. The land has around 100 orange trees, 3 grapefruit trees, 3 lemon trees and 6 mandarin trees located south of the house. There are also a variety of fruit trees such as plum, nectarine, a fig, 4 avocado, miniature pomegranate, and olive.  All of these are mature and bearing fruit.

In addition to the orchard, there is an established vegetable garden and a lot of other trees creating the feeling of an oasis and peace while still having the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

There are three water features on the property, two small ponds near the house and one larger pond on the southwest corner of the property. Although there is not a swimming pool here, there are at least 3 places where one could be located (subject to the usual permits from the local authority).

The house is built on a gentle north facing slope and has a cobble stone drive to the south and part of the west, while the entire patio on the north is also made of cobble stones.  This allows for rain water to easily drain away from the house to the surrounding fields.

A visit to see La Parra…

The current owner has enjoyed life in this oasis of calm for over 40 years and has dedicated her life to improving the property and creating a comfortable home which is ready to withstand the rigors of modern life and a changing world.

Surrounded by mature trees, tranquil gardens and in an area maintained in an organic style, the property offers a life free from radiation, chemicals and interference to allow the new owners to enjoy a more relaxed and healthy life in the future.
