Privacy, tranquillity and great views yet just over 2km to the village of Yunquera – the best of both worlds!
Yunquera is located within the beautiful Sierra de las Nieves National Park and this property benefits from stunning 360 degree panoramic views across the village itself, of the surrounding countryside, mountains and towards the sea. The village benefits from a wide range of bars, restaurants, shops and other amenities expected from a village of this size.
The property is accessed via a track leading from the village with a number of neighbours so you never feel isolated. However, when you arrive at the property itself, you can escape the hustle and bustle of modern life.
The property was reformed a little over 10 years ago but dates back as far as 1950 and houses of this age always have the best locations.
The property has a large entrance veranda which really does connect the inside of the house with the outside. The front door opens into the large living room which comes with a feature fireplace with wood burning stove, a beamed ceiling and an archway through to the separate kitchen.
The kitchen is well fitted with lots of wall and base units, topped off with granite work surfaces. All the usual appliances are fitted including an oven and hob, an American style fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.
There are three large double bedrooms, two with en-suite shower rooms plus a further family/guest bathroom which has a full bath and shower over.
Outside… the pool area is a delight with a large sun terrace and a large covered conservatory & veranda which is a sun trap.
The land area measures a little over 3 acres and comes with grapevines, a number of chestnut trees, walnut, almond, cherries and an olive grove. The owners produce their own organic olive oil, as the land has been maintained without pesticides.
There is a large storehouse which could be converted for a variety of uses, either animals, chickens or storage, with a fenced vegetable garden to the front.
The house really does off the best of both worlds with a secluded location but not remote with neighbours and the village close at hand when needed.

The Eco lifestyle and self sufficiency
The property is off grid and benefits from a large 5.2kw solar and wind turbine system. It is a 48v system with 24 batteries of 2v each. This provides the energy for all the usual appliances including the swimming pool. There is a generator which starts automatically if ever needed.
The water supply is from a deep well (110m) which is a plentiful supply of water as Yunquera is the source of the Rio Grande. This is a private water supply and the well is registered.
There are currently 2 x 2,000l storage tanks which serve the house. A further 2,000l tank is also used for irrigation althugh this is not necessary for the current trees.
The land area really does allow for the creation of a self-sufficient lifestyle with plenty of room for home grown fruit and vegetables. The house already has an olive grove and a variety of trees which could easily be added to in the future.
Living with a low carbon footprint is a real opportunity but you don’t have to feel isolated or disconnected from village life – a short walk brings you to the vibrant village and you have a number of neighbours, some of whom also have an Eco life with animals and off grid properties.
Yunquera and the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park
Yunquera is a large village with almost 3,000 inhabitants and this brings a wide range of services, shops and facilities with it. As with most Andalucian villages, there are regular festivals and fiestas and a weekly produce market.
The village has a range of bars, restaurants, shops, banks and a doctors surgery.
The Sierra de las Nieves National Park is perfect for bird watching, walking, horse riding, climbing,
Nature trails and the flora and fauna. Because of the fact that there is very little light pollution the area is ideal for stargazing. The Torre Vigia does have an Observatory and information centre for anyone interested in studying the night skies.
Yunquera is a village with lots of life throughout the year and is welcoming of newcomers and is surrounded by beauty.
