The village of Barranco Ferrer is a quiet environment which is relaxed and friendly just a short drive from the beaches of the Costa Tropical, the popular resort of Castel de Ferro and the Mediterrean motorway for access to Granada in the north, Almeria to the east and Malaga to the west.

Whether you wish to use the house as a permanent home or as a holiday home, it is easy to “lock and leave” and with all the beaches and coastal resorts of the Costa Tropical within easy reach, this would be a great base to explore this popular region which is still a very Spanish area.

The property comes with 3 bedrooms and 2 shower rooms– the top level of the property is accessed directly from the garden and comprises a living room, dining room, kitchen and shower room.

On the lower level there is a  family shower room and 3 bedrooms, two  of which are good size double rooms and the third is a single bedroom or a study/office.

Outside, the terrace is surrounded by three gardens with an irrigation system feeding almond, mandarin, lime and lemon trees and has wonderful views of surrounding hills.

A large outbuilding houses a washing machine, sink and work surfaces, tool storage spaces and a freezer.

The kitchen oven range operates on butane gas , as do the water heaters for both shower rooms and the outbuilding washing machine at an estimated cost of 20€ per month. The kitchen has an electric heater for water.

The Village of Barranco Ferrer

There are approximately 20 properties in the village which is a community at the end of a road in a secluded valley.  Many of the properties are attached or semi-detached but this property is detached and stands in the middle of the village with views of the surrounding hills.

Originally, it is likely this hamlet was one large working Cortijo and was broken up at some stage to form the village of Barranco Ferrer.

This is why Ferrer has its very own historic water supply via a very productive well and a bore hole. Much of the land around Barranco Ferrer is still farmed today with olive and almond trees surrounding the village.

The residents of Barranco Ferrer set up a village fund  with a meeting being held once a year to agree the service charge (currently 50€ per annum) for the maintenance of the village and the water supply and the cost for water usage (currently 0.5€ per m3).

The Coast and the Road down to Castell de Ferro

The road down from Barranco Ferrer, is via a cement/tarmac road and a raised track crossing a dry river bed to a tarmac road leading to either the A7/E15 motorway which is around 10 minute’s drive/6km or a few minute’s more brings you to the coastal town of Castell de Ferro.  This bustling coastal town has everything required for modern day living including  a 24 hour medical centre with emergency ambulance, sporting facilities, bars, restaurants, shops and of course, the beaches.

Motril, approximately thirty kilometres away is where you would go for major shopping and city culture.
