For sale direct from the owners
This large 4 bedroom village house is located in the traditional Alpujarran village of Yegen – a slice of real Spain in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in the Granada Province of Andalucia.
The house is formed of two, originally separate houses, with a connecting doorway – this means there is a great deal of flexibility as to how the house is used in the future. The two houses can be separated and used separately as a home and rental or to accommodate larger groups, couples or extended family.

The layout of the house…
From the front door you enter a hallway with stairs to your right. The ground floor consists of a shower room with a toilet, a large double shower cubicle and this room also houses the washing machine.
The kitchen is large and is a real “cook’s kitchen” with 2 electric ovens at eye level, a central island with a gas hob, one and half bowl sink with drainer, a large American fridge freezer, microwave, toaster etc. The work surfaces are Silistone which are very durable and there is ample preparation space.
The kitchen is traditionally Alpujarran in style with brick built base level storage with curtains.
A further cave room provides a climate-controlled environment for additional storage – perfect for use as a pantry, wine bodega and for wood storage.
The stairs from the hallway lead up to a large reception room, currently used as a dining room with 8 seater table and a seating area at the front which is adjacent to double doors opening onto a small Juliet balcony.
There is a small alcove at the other end of the room and behind this is a good sized double bedroom with a small bathroom across the hall including toilet, handbasin and single shower.
In between the dining room and the bedroom opposite the door through to a further staircase up to the second floor where you find 2 more bedrooms, 1 double and the other a huge bedroom with bunk beds and a play area. In between these is a wardrobe cupboard.
Then at the end of the hallway is a door out onto the large L shaped terrace which transforms this house into something very special…
The terrace is huge and has a large 8-seater dining table, a large BBQ area, 2 sun beds and a further casual seating area consisting of sofa, 2 chairs and table.
It is fitted with a large wall mounted blind for shade, a cold shower and lighting for the evenings.
This is a great place for entertaining, relaxing with a good book or dining alfresco. It really does extend the living space of the houses and sets this house apart from many others which can often struggle for outside space let alone the views you get! The terrace has panoramic views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada across to the hills of the Almeria Alpujarra and the Contraviesa mountain range.
In the dining room opposite the stairs to the terrace is a door which leads into a huge lounge with log burning stove spanning the entire depth, front to back, of the house.
At the front of the lounge is a cozy covered south facing terrace with great views – the perfect space to relax and enjoy the views. From the lounge stairs lead down to a huge master bedroom suite…
This set of rooms includes the bedroom which is home to a super king bed, a walk-in wardrobe and at the end a glass wall behind which is an ample en-suite bathroom with Victorian style hand basin, toilet and a large cast iron “ball and claw” freestanding bath tub.
Outside space
We are fortunate in Spain to benefit from great weather and a climate which encourages outside living. With many village houses, this is often not achievable but with this property you have a number of choices…

Yegen and the Alpujarras….
The traditional village of Yegen has long been a popular destination for those wanting to enjoy a slice of real Spain. A mountain village which is so different from the touristy villages closer to the coast that it really only should be considered by those wanting to integrate into a Spanish environment.
However, the village is far from dull – a choice of 4 bars serving tapas, a hotel/bar/restaurant and even a new bar/restaurant which is now open.
For daily needs, there is a convenience store which is stocked with everything you need for regular life including meat, fruit, vegetables, fresh bread and a wide range of drinks. Many villagers will live out of this supermarket rather than venturing further afield.
A Doctors surgery and a chemist opens 5 dayd a week, the postman visits 5 days a week to deliver and collect mail and there is a bakery that provides fresh bread and cakes 6 days a week. There is a fish van which visits 5 days a week with cheap fresh fish from the coast and a fruit and veg van once a week.
The nearst airports are Almeria and Granada both of which are 1 and a half hours away and you can be in the Sierra Nevada ski resort within 1 hour and 40 minutes.
