Holiday letting the entire house is very viable. The property has been inspected for tourism, complies with requirements and proudly displays its tourism licence (VTAR/CO/00190). The house has run as a successful holiday letting property since 2007 (prior to this it was a B & B). Currently, the owner gives 29 weeks per annum to charities for them to raise money from holiday letting the house. The 29 weeks are auctioned by the charities and the owner retains a percentage of the income to cover running costs and the rest goes towards special causes. Auctions have raised anything from €880 to €8,800 per week regardless of time of year. This shows how much people will pay to stay in this lovely property. “Many of the charities have used us more than once, some are now using us twice a year including Rolls Royce”. The owner has a guest list that can be passed on to the new owners.
If desired, the property could be a holiday let year round due to oil fired central heating being installed plus wood burning stoves. Being away from the coast, there is a demand for out-of-season accommodation due to the thriving outdoor activities in the area. Cycling, walking, bird watching, photography, sailing on the lake, rock climbing and more. Year round attractions for holiday makers who can enjoy a centrally heated house during winter months (when you can be sunbathing by day and sit in front of the fire during the evening!)
The guest book has many wonderful comments in it as does our proud entry on TripAdvisor.
There is a property management company in place to deal with change-overs, laundry, cleaning, maintenance etc. This arrangement can be passed on to the new owner as required.
La Celada Village
This beautiful home is located in the very heart of La Celada village, on the West side of the Plaza de San Jose. The village has a traditional bar which is very tranquil, offering tapas in the summer months. There is a shop that sells almost everything from fresh produce to kids’ toys, gas bottles and much more. The village enjoys the Fiesta de San Jose on 19th March each year, held in the plaza and literally on the doorstep. Frequent village lunches and evening meals are held throughout the year to include, huge paellas to be enjoyed by all. Three Kings, on 6th January, is the main Christmas event with street parties and donkey drawn carts offering gifts for the children. The Fiesta de San Isidro is held on Lake Iznajar each year – a celebration of horses, flamenco, floats and fun. Finally, there is a weekly open market in La Celeda each week.
The village is lucky enough to still have its own thriving Primary School in a brand new building for children up to the age of 10/11, complete with sports ground. The school is just a short walk from the front door. The site of the old village school has been turned into an outside gym – a great social gathering place for villagers and ex pats alike.
A bus leaves the village at 7am (to Iznajar) and returns at 10pm from Iznajar). From Iznajar you can get a connecting bus to all major towns and villages.
