This is a home ideal for those who wish, as owners, to have their own cottage with their own private outside spaces.  Enjoying this whilst hosting their guests who equally have a separate cottage with their own private terraces also.

The countryside location is both beautiful yet convenient. Not isolated from neighbours and just 1km from two bar/restaurants. Neighbours of different nationalities are dotted around and then two excellent bar/restaurants known as ventas are just down the road in the hamlet of Pastelero.  The ventas serve excellent home cooked food.  Traditional cuisine made from local produce.  Open during the day for menu del dia which is a three course lunch with drinks for less than €10!  Or, enjoy a BBQ outside during the summer, or sit by the big open fire during the winter and relax whilst enjoying a great meal and good wine.  Within the hamlet of Pastelero is also a bakery where you can collect bread or have it delivered.  Plus there is little convenience store where you can pick up things you need for daily life.  A bus stop is also usefully located in Pastelero.  The bus will take you to and from Malaga city three times per day and the service is expected to increase as the Spanish government is currently investing in public transport.

The vibrant small town of Villanueva de la Concepcion is only 10 minutes away by car and here you will find everything for modern day living and bus routes to Antequera and Malaga.  For its size, Villanueva de la Concepcion has an incredible amount of amenities normally associated with a big town.

Pastelero, just down the road with the two local ventas also has a bus stop/bus service that will take you into Malaga city centre and return three times per day (the service is predicted to increase in the near future as investment is being put into public transport).

Accommodation in brief includes:

Main cottage has big thick walls throughout.  A small entrance hall/boot room, one large bedroom, one large shower room, a spacious kitchen/dining room and a sitting room with French doors onto the terrace.  A laundry room is attached but accessed from outside.

Guest cottage has an entrance hall, spacious shower room, sitting room which could equally be a second bedroom (and even partitioned to make it private with a double bed, bunk beds or sofa bed), a kitchen fully fitted with units and work surfaces and a very large bedroom on the first floor with two double beds.

The gardens are mature with low maintenance drought resistant plants, shrubs, trees and palm.  It is a tiered garden with paths running throughout and views down into or over the top of the garden from the terraces above (of both the main cottage and guest cottage).

Central courtyard/central terrace finished in natural stone separates the main cottage from the guest cottage and features a mature fig tree which the property is named after.  The courtyard/central terrace is also home to a summer house, laundry/utility room and seating area.

If a swimming pool is desired to comply with the current Andalucian land law; below the gardens is an open area slightly sloping that would be the perfect location to place an above ground swimming pool cut into the land with decking around it to create an infinity effect and sun bathing terrace.  From here you would take in the far reaching views towards the different mountain ranges beyond.

There are many areas around the cottages where a Jacuzzi would sit perfectly if that is desired also.

This property as been a much loved permanent home for 20 years.  This means that everything has been installed for guaranteed comfort year round and throughout the seasons.  Just a small example that everything has been considered is, there is not only the obvious such as; air-conditioning, ceiling fans, wood burning stoves etc. but there are even swing fly mosquito screens doors which is so unusual but so convenient!

Both cottages and the gardens/land have been immaculately cared for and improved over time. Modern comforts and conveniences together with a higher specification than is usual in the average Andalucian country home have been installed.  Both cottages have new roofs that are fully insulated and both cottages have new flooring that is also insulated.  Air-conditioning is installed in both cottages (cooling and heating) as are ceiling fans and fly screens.  The main house has recently been fitted with UPVC double glazing to windows and French doors and a modern wood burning stove and a fitted kitchen with granite work surface means enjoyment can be had from day one of moving in.  Both cottages have been re-wired and re-plumbed.  The guest cottage retains its original wooden windows which does actually add charm.  There are ceiling fans throughout both cottages.

Modern communications are ready to greet you to include; Broadband Internet and WiFi with a 15Mbps download which means streaming International television is easily achieved.  There is also a local number phone connected via the system that provides the Internet (WiFiMax who are located in Villanueva de la Concepcion itself).  Satellite TV currently provides UK TV channels but the satellite dish could potentially be realigned to bring television channels from other European countries into the property.

Additions that help in life include; a laundry/utility room with washing machine, potting shed, hexagonal shaped summer house, large workshop with wood working machinery, car port and attached tool shed.

Fruiting trees on the land include; olives, almonds, pear, apple, lemon, orange and peppercorn.

Fully fenced and gated land with a pedestrian entrance at the guest cottage end of the property with public parking on the historic era (threshing circle) immediately outside. Then at the main cottage end is a double gated driveway with path leading down the side of the main cottage for ease of bringing shopping etc. into the property.

The views are spectacular, West facing and probably some of the best views to be found in Andalucia.  All day sunshine is guaranteed as are impressive sunsets to go with a cheeky G&T on any one of the many terraces as the sun sets!

The lively and vibrant small town on Villanueva de la Concepcion is a 10 minute drive away.  Here you will find everything needed for modern day living.  There are; supermarkets, independent shops of many kinds, DIY stores, numerous bakers and butchers, 14 bar/restaurants, 2 music bars, cafes, a huge sports hall, lovely outdoor municipal swimming pool with kiddie pool and ice cream shop/sweet shop, impressive football stadium with teams for all ages, padel tennis courts, an excellent 24 hour medical centre with on-stand-by ambulance to take you to either Antequera or Malaga hospital.  Hair dressers, nail bar, barbers. haberdashers, physiotherapists, nursery, junior and senior schools, language school (learn Spanish or English!), many different clubs to join for all ages and all interests, a gym and the list goes on.

Villanueva de la Concepcion is not a forgotten and abandoned sleepy town.  It thrives because it is 20 minutes from Antequera city and 35 minutes from Malaga city.  This means it is easy to commute to work, and many do.  Although, Vva de la Concepcion has a lot of work of its own from several underwear manufacturers, to iron works, several olive presses, cereals distributor, building supply merchants, a small business park, two haulage companies, all the different shops and of course the bars, restaurants and cafes.  On top of this, the immediate area is a very productive agricultural zone.  Olives, almonds and arrabal crops are grown and sold, plus olive oil is pressed.

The geographical area includes two of Spain’s most spectacular attractions:

El Torcal mountain range and natural park.  Drive through Villanueva de la Concepcion and continue East for a little way and you find the mountain road that takes you to the very top of the El Torcal. It is a natural wonder of the most incredible rock formations and home to wild Ibex (a cross between antelopes brought over by the Moors and local goats).  It is easy to see the Ibex when hiking one of the sign posted trails. Also seen very regularly are the Griffon Vultures and numerous birds of prey soaring on the thermals.

Travel West from the property, taking a very pretty drive and you will arrive at the Malaga Lakes and El Chorro Gorge with the Caminito del Rey (King’s walk).  The walk is a wooden decked pathway clinging to the gorge sides and hanging over the water below!  At the lakes during the summer there are water sports to be enjoyed from the many beaches plus there are restaurants and picnic areas open all year round.

Airports:

Malaga Airport is a very busy hub and offers flights all over Europe, internal flights to different parts of Spain and the islands plus a few international flights.  It takes approximately 35 minutes to drive to the airport.

Granada Airport is smaller but it does have a lot of internal flights on offer and some from popular European countries too (which can be significantly cheaper).  It takes approximately 1 hour to drive to Granada airport, located West of Granada city.
